Controller

Established Recruitment Advertising Agency looking for experienced controller to be accountable for the accounting operations, including the production of financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Responsibilities:
Direct and oversee all accounting operations including all general ledger responsibilities, A/R, A/P, payroll, fixed assets, T&E, tax compliance and other functions.
Oversee accounting policies and procedures to ensure that all business and customer transactions are executed and documented in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
Manage and monitor A/R and A/P.
Oversee the monthly/quarterly close process; ensuring all results are correctly posted
Prepares and analyzes financial reports.
Builds and maintains positive working relationships with vendors, co-workers and others.
Maintains and evaluates internal controls and key processes.
Coordinates the annual audit and regulatory filings.
Implements and monitors systems that ensure accurate, timely and responsive financial recording and reporting.
Takes leadership in disseminating information and provides advice and counsel for co-workers.

The successful candidate should possess extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of accounting and internal controls best practices, policies, procedures, and systems. They will possess the expert analytical and critical thinking ability to recommend, research, interpret, and apply policies and procedures to a complex environment. The candidate must have demonstrated success in people and resource management, as well as the ability to set vision and strategy for a mid-sized organization. As the Controller, the person will need outstanding ethics, commitment to integrity, and sound judgment. To successfully work with the various stakeholders, they should have exceptional collaborative, communication, interpersonal, political acumen, and service orientation skills. Knowledge of GASB is preferred, as is an advanced degree in related area and/or a CPA.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
Minimum 5-10 years' experience in accounting/finance.
Experience in working with multiple legal entities.
Mac OS experience.
Experience with MoneyWorks a plus.
Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
