The Organization operates 56 bedrooms year-round and provides a variety of other services, such as meals, family care and sibling education. Job Summary:

The House Manager reports to the Chief Operations Officer (COO) and is responsible for managing the day-to-day facility functions and operating systems of the San Diego Ronald McDonald House. The House Manager oversees logistical and program support for House activities, events and operations. A variety of technical, administrative and other duties will be provided as necessary to support the COO. The position requires flexibility to be available for emergencies during non-standard business hours.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain an organizational culture which is both proactive and results oriented, but also nurturing and family centered. Supervise and manage the House Services Supervisor, Guest Services Supervisor and Volunteer Services Supervisor.

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of events and activities as they pertain to the facility and its resources.

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of drills and trainings as they relate to emergency preparedness.

  • Oversee the provision of lodging and other services to families with hospitalized children in a facility that operates 24 hours a day throughout the year.

  • Implement and oversee practices to maintain the facility at an optimum level of cleanliness and repair.

  • Effectively manage, supervise and mentor house operations staff to create a positive and teamwork-oriented work environment.

  • Participate with the COO in long range planning and establishing priorities for facility improvements.

  • Oversee the Operations software programs for the House.

  • Maintain relationships with partnering hospitals. Oversee and manage vendor contracts.

  • Analyze utility bills, energy output and vendor statements.

  • Work with department managers to identify and evaluate need for new program/service initiatives.

Position Application Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or 5 years' experience in hospitality.

  • Proficiency with computer, fax, email, and software programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Ability to plan and manage projects and to coordinate the work of outside vendors.

  • Ability to work with internal and external teams in developing and implementing a wide range of policies affecting the operation of the physical plant.

  • Possess analytical skills needed to evaluate information and develop appropriate action plans.

  • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish.

  • Experience in residential living environment.
