Summary:

The Communications Manager will work with the CDO, CEO, Development team, and other lead staff to execute high-profile communications initiatives to bring the Center for Community Solutions (CCS) vision and story to life and increase awareness and engagement of prospective and current funders, partners, and program beneficiaries. The ideal candidate will capture the narrative of our largely confidential work and translate it into clear and compelling content, leading to engaging calls to action, awareness, and funds development. This role requires communication with numerous and diverse audiences, management of multiple communication channels, and creation of content copy for stories, cases for support, editorials, awareness/prevention campaigns, captivating letters to donors, client impact pieces for grant proposals, and reports.

Essential Functions:

- Develop and implement an effective multi-channel communications strategy to reach prospective and current donors, corporations, foundations, community groups, clients, volunteers, and other stakeholders.

-Create and share a communications calendar to ensure strategic and timely engagement and stewardship of donors, support of prevention/awareness campaigns, and engagement of stakeholders.

-Lead digital execution of fundraising and engagement campaigns throughout the year. Solicit content from staff or external sources and manage the review and sending of all external CCS communications.

-Write clear, compelling stories, contributed content, newsletters, letters to donors, and client testimonials.Position content to target different segments and align with format and publishing best practices of each platform.

-Oversee writing of annual report, agency collaterals, and campaigns in partnership with key staff.

-Support staff on strategies that foster relationships with targeted external audiences by developing, managing, and nurturing external partnerships, sponsorships, coalitions, and community relationships.

-Steward the CCS brand and ensure unified communications by staff to support organizational objectives.

-Enhance visibility and awareness of CCS and its programs by keeping the organization's website and digital content current, on brand, and search- and social-optimized.

-Seek regular opportunities for Board and Executive Director to engage with major foundations, corporate donors, and other organizations on social media and curate up-to-date lists of key accounts.

- Manage corporate outreach and communications projects that build individual and whole company engagement and create or deepen connections with CCS leadership and board members.

-Oversee CCS' annual Tea & Tonic fundraiser and other smaller events and fundraising campaigns. Serve as lead on all communications, supervise staff and/or contractors coordinating event logistics, and support CCS Development and Event Committees. Represent the organization at virtual and in-person events.

-Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and/or lived experience in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or related field.

Experience:

- Two or more years in non-profit communications, public relations, marketing, and event planning.

- Management of social media marketing and strategies, including management of content and traffic for e-news/e-blasts, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.

-Demonstrated ability to effectively develop and execute comprehensive strategies and contribute content for multi-channel communications to a variety of target audiences.

-Strong track record of copywriting and storytelling that demonstrates ability to take complex concepts and transform them into compelling content for multiple audiences.

-Proven project management success, including ability to coordinate deadlines, manage competing priorities, complete assignments, and work in and lead teams.

Preferred Experience:

-One or more years of non-profit fundraising success.

-One or more years of managing budgets and relationships with sponsors/donors/vendors.

- Research skills that may be applied to policy, public health, or environmental organizing and advocacy efforts.

- Bilingual/Multilingual fluency of one or more languages (Written and Oral).

-Familiarity with marginalized populations and anti-violence efforts.

Core Competencies:

-Excellent written, presentation, oral communications and interpersonal skills.

-Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite. Experience with WordPress, Constant Contact, Adobe Creative Suite and other cloud-based collaboration systems preferred. Familiarity with Donor Perfect helpful.

-Organized and detail oriented with the ability to problem solve, multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.

-Ability to maintain a proactive approach, manage time and complete all duties in their entirety.

-Maintain confidentiality and respectful communication at all times.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to carry up to 20lbs.

Travel:

10% travel within San Diego County may be required. Must have reliable transportation, a valid California driver's license, and proof of automobile insurance.

Work Hours:

Working hours of Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Requires some early morning, evening and weekend availability for events and/or donor relations needs.
